ABOUT

the designer behind OctaHedron

Rachel Custom Jewelry

I'm a total gem nerd. I love the metal, the stones, getting to obsess over a setting until it's exactly right. But the piece itself has never actually been the point for me. What matters more is what it means to you, and how it makes you feel every time you put it on. That's what I'm actually designing for.

I'm Rachel, the designer behind OctaHedron. I trained at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, and I hold my Jewelry Technician Diploma along with Graduate Diamond and Colored Stone Diplomas from the Gemological Institute of America. So when it comes to your piece, the gem search, the metalwork, the way it's constructed, every decision is specific to your design, not pulled from a template.

A lot of my job comes down to the gem hunt. My network spans the world, and I don't just look for what's available, I listen for what actually matters to you, then keep going until I find it. From there, I design every piece and work the bench myself, bringing in a small group of trusted San Francisco artisans for parts of the process, casting, setting, engraving, depending on what the piece calls for. I'll always tell you who's working on your piece and why.

More than anything, I just love working with good people, clients who are open, easy to talk to, and excited to figure things out together. It doesn't matter if you've got a vague feeling you can't quite put into words yet, or you know exactly what you're after and just haven't found it anywhere. Both are a good place to start with me.

I love the moment when someone sees their piece for the first time and it's more than they imagined. That's what I'm going for every time. I'd love to hear what you're thinking.
