I'm Rachel, founder and designer of OctaHedron Jewelry.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation.
Some clients come with a folder full of inspiration. Some have a favorite piece from my collection they'd like to build on. Others bring inherited jewelry, a gift they've never quite connected with, or a ring from another chapter of life that they'd like to reimagine into something they'll actually wear.
And sometimes people simply know how they want their piece to feel.
However you arrive, we'll figure it out together.
I design every piece and collaborate with a trusted network of local San Francisco artisans who care as deeply about craftsmanship as I do. Along the way, we'll make thoughtful decisions about every detail, balancing beauty, practicality, and budget to create something that feels unmistakably yours.
I believe the process should feel just as enjoyable as wearing the finished piece.

1) SELECT YOUR GEMSTONES
Choosing the right gemstone is one of my favorite parts of the process.
I'm GIA-educated in diamonds and colored gemstones, and I love sourcing unusual stones that feel personal rather than predictable. Whether you're looking for a natural diamond, a lab-created diamond, a Montana sapphire, a vibrant tourmaline, or something completely unexpected, I'll curate several beautiful options that fit both your priorities and your budget.
Already have a stone or jewelry you'd like to incorporate? Perfect. Some of my favorite projects begin by giving an existing piece a completely new life.
2) SHARE YOUR IDEAS
You don't need to have everything figured out before we meet.
Bring your ideas, your inspirations, or even just a feeling. We'll figure out the rest together.
We'll talk about what you're naturally drawn to, how you live, what jewelry you wear every day, and the details that matter most to you. Sometimes the conversation starts with a Pinterest board. Sometimes it starts with one photograph. Sometimes it starts with, "I know what I don't like."
There's no right way to begin.
3) SEE IT IN 3D
Once we have a direction, I'll design your piece in CAD so you can see exactly how everything comes together before we move into production.
We'll refine proportions, details, and gemstones until everything feels right. If you'd like even more confidence before committing, I also offer wearable prototypes for many ring designs so you can experience the scale and proportions in real life before we cast the final piece.
4) CRAFTING & DELIVERY
Once your design is approved and your final payment is complete, we begin creating your piece.
I handcraft many parts of the process myself and collaborate with talented local San Francisco artisans for specialized work like stone setting, engraving, casting, and finishing. Keeping production local allows me to stay closely involved from beginning to end and ensures every piece receives the attention it deserves.
You'll receive updates throughout the process, and once your jewelry is finished, I'm still here. Cleanings, resizing, repairs, future redesigns... I want your jewelry to be something you enjoy wearing for many years to come.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Most custom projects take 5-12+ weeks, with gemstone sourcing often being the longest part of the process.
Every project is different. The timeline depends on the stone, design complexity, and how quickly we make decisions together, but I'll keep you updated every step of the way.
I believe creating a custom piece should feel exciting, not overwhelming.
PRICING & NEXT STEPS:
Every project is unique, so pricing depends on the gemstones, metal, and design.
Custom engagement rings generally fall between $5,000 and $10,000, although I regularly create pieces above and below that range depending on the project. Simple custom pieces can start around $1,500, particularly when using an heirloom gemstone or creating a more streamlined design.
